Advice options for planning your retirement

The vast majority of Australians plan and start their retirement without any advice, with cost and trust being the main barriers. In this webinar we explore some of the key options for advice and guidance, including from financial advisers, super funds, retirement coaches and retirement income modellers.

Q: I made a non-concessionary bring forward contribution of $330,000 on 2 March 2023 (ie. the 22/23 tax year). I therefore assume I cannot make another contribution until the 25/26 tax year without incurring tax consequences. Can I make another non-concessionary bring forward contribution at any time during the 25/26 tax year (ie. from 1 Jul 2025 onwards) or do I have to wait a full three years (ie. until 3 March 2026)?

A: Thanks for getting in touch. The bring forward period commences at the start of the financial year you first exceed the non-concessional cap and encompasses three financial years from that time, assuming you are eligible for a three-year arrangement.

A three-year bring forward period that commenced during 22-23 will end on 30 June 2025, and further contributions can be made from 1 July 2025.

You can confirm the duration and end date of your bring forward period by logging in to MyGov and using the linked ATO service to see your superannuation information.
